The little known FA Rule 57c iv, states that "(Home) Clubs shall designate ahead of each season which half of the field they use for pre-match preparations. They shall remain/defend there for the first half half, with the team chosen to kick-off by the referee tossing off. This shall have the effect of a very prompt match commencement, minimising (goal-keeper in particular), player fatigue from changing ends along with photographers and fans at unsegregated games. Sunglasses, caps and other aids in relation to the alignment of the sun are not permitted except for the designated goalkeepers. Any club seeking an advantage for example by watering , forking or cutting the grass differently for each half will be subject to a slap on the wrist ("big clubs") or points deductions"
